  • Engagement Photo Themes

Many couples have a hard time thinking of themes or activities for their photo shoot. It’s important to make sure that whatever you end up choosing, it represents you two as a couple. Ensure that the theme is fitting so that you and your better half are comfortable
    and happy during the shoot.

    1. At Home or a Family Members Home: Your own backyard or a close family members is great. It will give it that “homey” feel and contribute to creating more memories of home.

    2. Photo Re-Creation: Is there a photo that your parents or grand-parents had with each other that you would like to imitate? You could frame it next to the old photograph later.

    3. Vintage: Look to old vintage clothing and wear polka dots or go to an old diner.

    4. Sporty: Do you have a favorite sport that you and your mate share together? Strap in your snowboard or go surfing.

    5. Amusement Park: If you both love to ride roller coasters, eat cotton candy and play arcade games, go to the carnival or to an amusement park to get some fun filled photographs.

  • Look Again

The idea behind a first look session is really quite simple: Set up a shoot to capture the fleeting moment when the bride and groom first lay eyes on each other on their big day. Some people don’t like this idea at all.

It’s a strategy that might distract from the thrill of walking down the aisle. Personally, when I’m attending a wedding, I love seeing the look in the grooms eyes and on his face when he first sees the bride. Being a photographer, I get to see it either way. 🙂 But with a first look, you receive a thoughtfully captured moment that allows for the full emotional impact of seeing your partner for the first time.

Alternately, couples can arrange a “day after” photo session. These shoots occur after the ceremony on a day pre-arranged by you and your photographer. Its a great way to free up more time for you to enjoy your reception and guests.

Think about whether or not this is an option for you. Either way, we will capture gorgeous photos in whatever environment of your choosing. Talk to your wedding photographer.

  • Gloss your Fingers

With so much attention paid to your wedding ring, you’ll need a fresh manicure as its backdrop on the big day. Soft colors like light pink seem to be on the rise.

Something I’ve also noticed are Shellac nails. It goes on like regular nail polish and dries immediately. It lasts about 2 to 3 weeks, which is great! It doesnt contain formaldehyde, toluene or DBP do it doesn’t cause damage like artificial nails does.

I have an appoinment next week 🙂

  • Brandon + Laura {Montpelier Center, VA} Virginia Wedding Photographer

Brandon and Laura’s Wedding ceremony took place July 30th in the small town of Ashland, VA at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The reception took place in Montpelier at the Montpelier Center.

It was a beautiful day. A little humid but it allowed us some time to go out for a short time to get some beautiful pictures of Brandon & Laura at a little white house on the property of the Montpelier Center. The wedding was beautiful and the dance floor had plenty of friends and family dancing the day away.

    Congratulations you two!

  • Picking Your Wedding Palette

As a little girls, usually you can picture your wedding, the colors, the people, the dress. What did you see when you were a little girl? What do you see now? One of the very first things you will do as a bride, is choose your wedding colors. There are many ways to do this: What is your favorite color? What colors inspire you?

Whatever you decide, will look wonderful. Look at photos of other weddings. Pinterest is a great source for inspiration. I know I personally pin everything in sight as well as my photographs of weddings I have taken. Look at these and see what stands out to you. Do you picture yourself standing in your dress in the middle of these wonderful array of colors?

Once you pick your colors, then everything else seems to fall right into place. As far as flowers, look up which flowers are in season because different flowers can be difficult to get out of season. (This also helps with budget)
