I recently had an opportunity to? travel to New Zealand. I started off on the South Island in Christchurch and made my way down to Queenstown. From Queenstown, I branched off and went to cities nearby like Paradise, Glenorchy, Arrowtown, Milford Sound and Wanaka. It would amaze you to see how massive these mountains are.
Queenstown is built around an inlet and surrounded by Lake Wakatipu. Every day, traveling from our house in Fernhill was spectacular. Queenstown is known as “the adventure capital of the world.” Its known for its skiing, jet boating, whitewater rafting, bungy jumping, mountain biking, skateboarding, hiking, etc. It would take an incredibly long time and a considerable amount of money to cover all the activities they have to offer but all are worth it if you have both.
Famous movies such as The Lord of the Ring, Willow, and Xmen’s Wolverine were all filmed here. You can even see a giant X on the side of the mountain there.
Hitch Hiking in Queenstown is very popular, safe and the norm of every day life, as many of the foreign students and travellers there do not have cars.
I didn’t have a chance to travel to the North Island but the South Island as a whole is absolutely gorgeous and breathtaking. If you have a chance, definitely visit and take your time actually enjoying the view it has to offer. I plan to post many pictures of my trip. For now, here is the view I had every single day. One I miss every moment.
