  • Matt & Kara Engagement {Tampa Bay Wedding Photographer}

    Matt & Kara are an amazing couple I met at University of Tampa. They are so wonderful!! I had an amazing time out with them on such a perfect day. I asked them a few questions about themselves and their plans for their wedding so that you could get to know them like I did.

    How did you two meet?

    We met at The Rack at a mutual friend’s birthday party.  It was actually kind of funny because we were both working at the same place at the time, but in different departments, so we had never crossed each other’s paths.  Once we realized we worked near each other we started taking our breaks together.

    What do you two love to do together the most?

     We love riding our bikes together when we have the chance.  It is so convenient living in South Tampa because we are biking distance from a variety of restaurants.  We even made a list of restaurants we want to try, but there are so many to choose from!

    How did he propose? (If you would like to mention about him proposing atop the tallest building in the world, that is up to you)

    Matt’s family lives outside of Dubai in the U.A.E.  While we were visiting last Christmas, Matt tried proposing on top of the Burj Khalifia, the world’s tallest building.  I am very shy, so when I noticed what he was doing I whispered; “you better not do that up here!”  Needless to say he changed up the plan and proposed in the hotel room later that evening.  It makes for a funny story.

    When and Where will your wedding be?

    We are getting married June 29th at Old Town Manor in Key West.  It is a bed and breakfast located one block from Duval Street.  We are looking forward to having a relaxing yet fun weekend celebrating with our close friends and family.

    What made you decide to choose a destination wedding?

    After Matt proposed, I initially started planning for a big wedding.  We both realized during the process that the traditional wedding was not for us.  Once we started exploring other options, we both fell in love with the idea of a carefree destination wedding.  We decided on Key West because we both enjoy the keys and would love to begin our life together there.

    Where will you go on your Honeymoon?

    We are spending our honeymoon in Chile.  Matt is dying to check out the world’s largest pool, and I am hoping to visit some of the wineries.  I minored in Spanish in college and I think Matt also wants to laugh at me while I attempt to speak with the locals!

    Congratulations you two!!! I had a great time with you guys!

    As always, thank you for trusting me to be your Tampa Bay Engagement Photographer..till we meet again! Feel free to check out our portfolio of Tampa Bay Engagement photos here.

  • I’m Engaged!!!

    I’m Engaged!!!

    Yesterday morning we drove out to Lakeland so Chris’ bike could be serviced. We came back into Tampa and drove out to New Port Richey, where my surprise date was taking place.

    We get to an marina and he tells me he’s taking me sailing! {I’ve never been on a sailboat!!!} We meet Captain Dave and off we go into the channel. It takes about 30 minutes to get out of the channel, our Captain tells us. So we relaxed up on the front, cozied up to one another because it was a little chilly. Chris put on his iPod – The Cave Singers were playing on our way out to the ocean. Chris starts telling me about the Sushi Dinner they have prepared for us. {I’m totally stunned that he has all of this prepared for us!!}

    We ate our Sushi together at the front of the boat. At this point, its gotten pretty windy! So we are laughing about the soy sauce from our sushi getting on us. Oh well, it was still perfect!

    As they sun starts to go down we are talking about whether or not we’ll see the sunset It was pretty grey outside during the day so we weren’t sure. We see an island far ahead of us {Chris jokes with me that its Mexico} We get up to the island and we are drifting along side of it when Chris goes to give the Captain our camera {you know me, I was already taking a lot of photos!} and he changes the music because its already gone through the playlist. One song plays and the next one comes on. I looked at him and said “hey I know this song!” {I couldn’t think of the name or realize what it was because my memory is THAT terrible} He says “Ya its our song” {to give you an idea, Chris and I had been trying to find OUR song for a little bit and we had come across this song but hadn’t settled on it because Chris wasn’t positive on it yet..or so I thought} So i was happy that we finally had a song that we could slow dance to and he says “Hey lets take our picture.” So we get up and take the picture and Chris turns to me and says “sooo” and I immediately got a HUGE smile on my face and he stops and says “What?”. I said “nothing, nothing keep going!” haha Chris proceeds to talk about our time spent together in New Zealand {and possibly some more, but it was such a whirlwind i can’t remember everything!} He gets down on one knee and pulls the ring out of his pocket and says “Will you marry me?” I was still smiling so big, said YES!, he put the ring on my finger and then I started to ball my eyes out, crying. He got up and gave me a hug and we kept hugging and I was still crying. And he said “Are you gonna look at it?”. Thats when I looked at the MOST gorgeous ring!!!!!!!

    I haven’t stopped smiling since 🙂

  • Engagement Photo Themes

    Many couples have a hard time thinking of themes or activities for their photo shoot. It’s important to make sure that whatever you end up choosing, it represents you two as a couple. Ensure that the theme is fitting so that you and your better half are comfortable
    and happy during the shoot.

    1. At Home or a Family Members Home: Your own backyard or a close family members is great. It will give it that “homey” feel and contribute to creating more memories of home.

    2. Photo Re-Creation: Is there a photo that your parents or grand-parents had with each other that you would like to imitate? You could frame it next to the old photograph later.

    3. Vintage: Look to old vintage clothing and wear polka dots or go to an old diner.

    4. Sporty: Do you have a favorite sport that you and your mate share together? Strap in your snowboard or go surfing.

    5. Amusement Park: If you both love to ride roller coasters, eat cotton candy and play arcade games, go to the carnival or to an amusement park to get some fun filled photographs.
