We don’t have family who live near us who could take a few photos of the home birth of our third baby so we splurged on a professional photographer. I am so glad I did! I am not very comfortable in front of the camera and I was a little worried about having a stranger at such a private event but Ashley was wonderful! I didn’t even know she was there! When things didn’t go to plan and what I thought would be a simple, straight forward birth turned into a long, drawn out ordeal, she didn’t flinch. She was there with us all day, patiently waiting and working. She captured everything perfectly; moments between my boys, my husband and I, even my 10-year-old black lab, and the crazy entrance of my baby girl! A few video moments too which are so wonderful. She surprised us with a video montage set to music that brings me to tears every time I watch it. She also did my daughters newborn session and she did amazing! My daughter is breastfed and I didn’t have any pumped milk to provide nor does my daughter take a pacifier, both of which help calm and keep baby posed during the shoot, but Ashley took it in stride and was so patient. She truly is a baby whisperer! I still use some of her technique to this day. People may think she has a glamorous job but to work in that heat, being peed and pooped on?! She is a saint! “As a semi photographer myself I consider myself to be somewhat picky. I have slight OCD in making sure that things are perfect. So when we found out through a miracle that we were having TRIPLETS we knew we needed a photographer with patience when it came time for the newborn shoot. My Maternity shoot was also a challenge as we needed me to have a nice size bump but not be huge or on bed rest. She was extremely accommodating to my needs and when the triplets newborn shoot came about, well let’s say I was so nervous that they wouldn’t come out. But I can say without one doubt that over the 2 1/2 days that it took for her to gather the perfect shoots I never felt like she was going to miss anything. From that smile in their dreams to all 3 snuggled up together like they were back in the womb.
